Black Friday

I know that a lot has been written about it, but for some odd reason I am compelled to put my two cents in. The topic? That song by Rebecca Black. Friday. It’s been hailed by some critics are the worst song EVER. What do they know? Have they listened to every single song ever written or recorded? No.

Every once in a while, some bizarre musical oddity comes along that people feel compelled to collectively hate. Do I hate it? No, not really. But, I don’t love it either. The melody is kind of catchy. It’s eerily reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s Baby, in a Twilight Zone sort of way. I suppose that under different circumstances (different lyrics or singer) it would probably go unnoticed. But, all of the right ingredients were thrown into the pot to make it so popular/unpopular.

Since today is Friday, I decided to go onto YouTube and give it another listen. It has over 70,000 million views. It’s the only video that I have ever seen with over one million dislikes. While I was watching it I noticed how hypnotic it was. It kind of puts you in a trance. It does me anyway. I’ve probably watched it about 7 times. Every single time that the video has ended, my mouth has been in the agape position.

If I didn’t know any better, I would say that it is some kind of mind control experiment akin to MKUltra.

I kind of feel sorry for her though. She has really gotten a lot of crap. I mean, all she wanted to do was have her mom fork over some money so that she could make a little video. There are tons of people on Youtube with homemade songs a lot worse than hers. Why is hers so popular? Why did she get all of the notoriety? Beats me.

Zombie Ate My Neighbors

This brings back memories. I used to play this game for hours and hours. I sure miss Super Nintendo. It was the best gaming system ever. Another favorite was Donkey Kong Country. I wish I still had it. I traded it in at the video game store.

A government agent, who dogs the trail of illegal narcotics peddlers. This requires several trips south of the US-Mexico border and back again. During these trips, he meets people like the tough femme-fatale Judith Palmer and lead smuggler Harry.

Sex is a Four Letter Word?

This has got to be the stupidest book title…ever. The only sense that I can make out of it is that, maybe, the word sex is an allusion to that four letter word that begins with the letter F. That’s the only explanation that I could come up with.

Raymond Burr gets it

Here is a gif that I made from the movie His Kind of Woman. This is the part of the movie where Raymond Burr, the bad guy, gets shot by Robert Mitchum, the good guy. The gif is really quite ridicuous. It almost looks like he is humping something or someone.

I’m no Samuel Pepys

1. Sue and I bought a new jigsaw puzzle yesterday. We got it at Hobby Lobby. That place is almost always crowded. The puzzle was a road scene. It has 2 cars and a train in it. I like it because it is colorful. The last one we attempted was van Gogh’s Starry Night. I love Starry Night, but I got bored with it. Too much of the same color. I got confused. I’m really not all that great with jigsaw puzzles. Anyway, the new one is much easier.

2. The new American Idol has started. So far I’m not really hip on any of the contestants. We’ll see what happens.

3. It’s cold again.

4. The parallax view with the coffee pot is throwing me off. At a certain angle, the handle hides the red light and makes me think that it didn’t brew. I get confused for a split second. I could have sworn I set the timer. It’s really a bizarre sensation.

5. Today is Wal Mart day and The Amazing Race is on tonight.
